New York Yankees are always expected in the championship, but this year seems to be doubtful.
New York's pitching staff is shaky at best, with CC Sabathia to anchor the staff. Sabathia is one of the best pitchers in the game, but behind it is not exactly a bunch of All-Stars. A.J. Burnett was the man the Yankees have signed a great deal of money, he just does not come close to living up to last year, because he was battered around by fighting formations.
According to Paul White of USA Today, Burnett has looked into one of the greatest coaches in American sports history to help make sure this season runs better than the last one did for former Toronto pitcher.
On the locker Burnett is a piece of paper with a nugget of inspiration.
"Under the heading," What it Takes to be No. 1, "read, in part:
"Winning is the thing that sometimes does not, it's the all-in-time you do not win once in a while, you do not do the right thing once in a while, .. you do it right all the time Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing no There is no room for second place .. ""
This is a sentence from legendary football coach Vince Lombardi, and while that may do the trick, the rest of the rotation might not be so lucky. There is a big question mark in the Freddy Garcia and Ivan Nova. Phil Hughes should also be increased if the Yankees will be able to handle the powerful offense of the Boston Red Sox, who added Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford on this offseason.
If the pitchers falter, the Yankees will have a hard time trying to catch up in the AL East with the Red Sox, who have their own pitching concerns. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, but even if no outstanding pitching, the Yankees will argue in the American League and the possibility of winning the Wild Card thanks to their deep lineup, with Robinson Cano and Alex Rodriguez both ready for a year large.
It will not be surprising if the Yanks somehow found a way to win the division, but the Yanks will have difficulty facing the Red Sox who have rows deep.
